University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center was established in 1941. Today it includes 15 academic oncology departments and 10 treatment cancer centers. MD Anderson has investigated original in own Cancer Medicine faculty. Among the areas of study are immunology, genetics, cancer biology, cytotechnology, molecular genetic technology, etc.

Nelly B. Connally Breast Center
The Breast Center of MD Anderson is one of the largest in the USA. Annually specialists of the Center treat over 40,000 patients annually. The Center includes departments for diagnostic, treatment and reconstruction of the breast. Doctors apply such treatment options according to the stage of disease:
- radiation therapy: intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI), stereotaxic radiosurgery
- chemotherapy: MD Anderson apply chemotherapy safe even for pregnant women
- hormone therapy
- targeted therapy.
Anne C. Brooks Brain and Spine Center
The Brain and Spine Center accepts thousands of patients annually. The Center has over 75 years of experience in diagnosing and treating tumors of the brain, spine and base of skull. Doctors prefer applying less invasive methods for treatment to minimize side effects and complications. Among them are proton therapy, GammaKnife and BrainSuite radiosurgery, targeted therapy.
Doctors perform surgery
The Brain and Spine Center is among few ones in the USA that has got Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE). It allows studying new ways of treatment.
Colorectal Center
Doctors of MD Anderson’s Colorectal Center use minimally invasive laparoscopic and invasive surgeries for treatment. They are less traumatic and do not cause severe postoperative complications. Specialists perform sphincter-sparing surgery which preserves physical functions and allows avoiding a permanent colostomy.

The following treatment options are also used: proton therapy, targeted chemotherapy, radiation therapy. For preventing colorectal cancer, specialists provide genetic testing.
Gastrointestinal Cancer Center
Specialists of Gastrointestinal Center provide treatment of liver, pancreas, gallbladder, stomach, bowel cancers, etc. MD Anderson Cancer Center gives an opportunity to take part in the clinical trials. Doctor apply new chemotherapy before surgery which increases chances for recovery.
Leukemia Center
The Leukemia Center of MD Anderson in Houston is one the most advanced centers for blood cancer treatment in the world. The 25 world-recognized specialists of the Center have provided over 100 clinical trials for the newest vaccines, targeted therapies, immunotherapies, etc. Doctors have developed such drugs for leukemia: dasatinib, decitabine, nilotinib, clofarabine, imatinib mesylate.

The specialists have distinguished a wide range of leukemia types. It is a critical criterion for choosing the most appropriate treatment plan for each patient..
Sarcoma Center
Texas MD Anderson’s Sarcoma Center provides treatment for over than 30 types of bone and soft tissue sarcomas. The doctors have achieved 5-year survival rate in 80% of cases.
Hall at Sarcoma Center
A team of specialists from different areas perform the treatment. They apply embolization, limb-preserving surgeries, proton therapy, chemotherapy with fewer side effects.

This is not the great hospital it once was. They are arrogant and lack respect for their patients. We will be going somewhere were we can set appointments on our schedule. We waited for 30 minutes past our appointment time before walking out. This was our second appointment with Dr. Anne Tsao who is routinely 2 hours behind schedule. I would encourage more to walk. Maybe it will bring MD Anderson’s hubris into check.

To be such a top notch place to go and get cancer treatments and all the bloodwork and scans that goes with this treatment they sure don't care about your time...when you have to drive hours or spend a great deal of money on hotels just to come here and then spend money on treatments also for appointment at 8:45 and you are still waiting at 10:30 and just an fyi...was checked in at 8:00... no food or drink mind you either and appointments started at 7:00... but they say they are not running behind...and this is every time we come here...not happy with the way things are run here... our time is important also...be as considerate to our time as we are to yours...

Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019. Immediately called and scheduled a consult. I was ordered to undergo a repeat mammogram and an ultrasound which confirmed diagnosis from my local physician. Literally from the first minute of doing my mammogram, I KNEW I had made the right decision. My treatment team were awesome!! I could not be more pleased. I have completed chemotherapy and recently had a mastectomy and will undergo reconstruction surgery later in the year, following radiation. From the doctors, nurses, physicians assistants, anesthetists and to the people who park my car, I have never been treated more kind. Thank you MD Anderson!! And thank you God for your healing!

A family member is being treated at MD Anderson for breast cancer. She has to fly in every week from Dallas for her treatments. The doctors are great. The problem is with how poorly the staff coordinate with the patients and with other departments. Patients flying in from out of town for treatment need to have everything scheduled on one day (chemo, blood work, x rays, CT scans, MRI's). Despite being repeatedly told this, staff in radiology and oncology don't seem able to perform basic tasks, are completely inefficient, and don't listen to patients. They repeatedly schedule tests on any day of the week, seemingly oblivious to the fact that the patient is not local. Patients have to constantly call in and remind different departments that they are coming in from out of town for tests. It adds far too much stress to patients already under a lot of stress dealing with their cancer treatments. Why is this even an issue? Staff need to be more competent, learn how to perform their tasks more efficiently, and communicate with patients more effectively. As it stands, the staff at MD Anderson do not act like they are part of a world class treatment centre, but an inefficient and clumsy hospital unable to get basic things right. This kind of treatment of patients is unacceptable.

By far the best cancer treatment facility in the world!! The doctors put you on a specialized program that is best for your illness. After that, the nurses guide you thru it with open minds and giving and caring souls. I’ve been coming here since April 2019 and I love it!! AAA+ facilities and employees!! Thank you for saving my life!

As a volunteer here, I can say that it is a great place. The different locations in the Main and Mays buildings are unique and make patients feel like home.

Horrible. Wanted to do your big time testing instead of listening to the complaints of a patient. Never the first PET scan. Big money procedures first. Medicare pay attention. They ripping you off. Horrible people. Horrible. Personal care more like Personal agendas.
