Specialization and Pediatric Care
Dr. Hilmi Apak treats complex blood disorders in children. His work includes treating acute lymphoblastic leukemia and acute myeloid leukemia. He treats patients with nutritional anemias, aplastic anemia, and Mediterranean anemia, also known as Thalassemia. The specialist also treats hemophilia and childhood cancers.
The doctor uses chemotherapy techniques to treat pediatric patients. His practice covers all hematology and pediatric oncology methods. He ensures that each treatment plan addresses the nutritional and medical needs of children.
Academic and Professional Career
Dr. Apak has held leadership positions at Istanbul University throughout his career. He served as the Head of the Science Department until 2012. He currently directs the Department of Internal Medical Sciences at Istanbul University–Cerrahpaşa. Additionally, Dr. Apak holds a position on the Academic Board for Child Health and Diseases.

Dr. Hilmi Apak completed medical training at the Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1986. He earned his specialization in Child Health and Diseases in 1994. By 2000, he attained his sub-specialization in pediatric hematology and oncology. He became a Professor in 2009 after serving as an Associate Professor.

Research and Publications
The doctor contributes to medical science through research on genetic and blood disorders. He published "The molecular spectrum of Turkish osteopetrosis and related osteoclast disorders." This work examines the genetic patterns of osteopetrosis – a rare bone disease where bones become overly dense.
