Turgut Akgul

Dr. Turgut Akgul is an orthopedic spine surgeon at Biruni University Hospital. He is a Board member and Treasurer of the Turkish Spine Society (TOD). Dr. Akgul has earned multiple international awards for his research into spinal tuberculosis and muscular dystrophy.

Specialization and Surgical Approach

The specialist focuses on corrective procedures for the spine and pelvis. He treats conditions such as scoliosis, kyphosis, and spinal fractures. Dr. Akgul is a specialist in Vertebral Body Tethering (VBT). This technique treats scoliosis while preserving spinal flexibility in growing children by using a flexible cord to guide spinal growth.
