Dr. Yaprak Kalkan is a distinguished periodontist and the founder of Smile Academy Clinic in Istanbul, Turkey. Born in Istanbul in 1988, she graduated from Kadıköy Anadolu Lisesi in 2006 and earned her dental degree from Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry in 2011. She pursued a doctorate in Periodontology at the same university, during which she conducted research on diabetic patients at Turku University in Finland. Before establishing Smile Academy, Dr. Kalkan gained experience at esteemed institutions such as Maslak Acıbadem Hospital. Her professional involvement includes serving in various capacities within the Turkish Dental Association (TDA), notably as Deputy Secretary General of the 25th International TDA Congress in 2019. She has been a member of the Community Oral and Dental Health Commission (2012-2016), the Young Dentists Commission (2016-2020), and, since 2018, a General Assembly Delegate at the Istanbul Chamber of Dentists.

The founder of Smile Academy, Dr. Dr. Yaprak Kalkan was born in Istanbul in 1988. She graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry in 2011. She went to Turku University in Finland to carry out the experiments of her studies on diabetic patients during her doctorate, which she started in the Department of Periodontology of the same university. After working in corporate and VIP health institutions such as Maslak Acıbadem Hospital, she planned to open her own clinic to take her profession to a different point and laid the foundations of Smile Academy. She has many national and international scientific publications and papers. She took part in the management many times in the leading scientific organizations of the profession, such as the 101st FDI World Dental Congress. In 2019, she assumed the position of Deputy Secretary General of the 25th International TDA Congress. She has been working as a member of the 2012-2016 Community Oral and Dental Health Commission, a member of the 2016-2020 Young Dentists Commission, and since 2018 as the General Assembly Delegate of the Turkish Dental Association at the Istanbul Chamber of Dentists.
