Prof. Dr. Cătălin Copăescu is Romania’s first surgeon recognized for excellence in metabolic and bariatric surgery. He holds both European (IFSO-EC) and American (SRC) certifications. He received these titles in 2011 and 2014. His achievements led to Ponderas Hospital becoming the only Center of Excellence in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery in Southeast Europe.

Dr. Copăescu is the Director of the Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence at Ponderas Academic Hospital. He performs over 1,000 minimally invasive procedures each year. His expertise includes laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgeries for metabolic, colorectal, and hernia conditions. With 25 years of experience, he is also a leader in surgical education. He directs several hands-on courses and international workshops every year.

Dr. Mehmet Mehdi Deniz is an Associate Professor and general and bariatric surgeon at Vital Hospital. He has over 15 years of surgical experience, starting his career in 2008. His main areas of expertise are bariatric surgery, hernia repair, gastrointestinal disorders, and minimally invasive procedures. He performs Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and advanced laparoscopic surgeries.

Dr. Deniz is also an active medical researcher. He has co-authored more than nine international peer-reviewed publications, which have received over 180 citations. Prof. Dr. Kamil Yalçın Polat is a leading transplantology expert and Head of the Organ Transplantation Center at Memorial Bahçelievler Hospital in Istanbul. With over 30 years of surgical experience, he founded the Organ Transplantation Center at Atatürk University (2003-2010) and completed fellowships at Mount Sinai Hospital and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. He completed his general surgery residency at Haydarpaşa Numune.

He has authored 16 scientific articles. He has 25 national and 3 international congress presentations. He won First Prize in Turkey for laparoscopic right hemicolectomy in ileocecal neuroendocrine tumors. He contributed a translation to the SAGES Hernia Repair Manual (laparoscopic TEP/TAPP). He is a member of the Turkish Medical Association, the Turkish Surgical Society, and the Colon and Rectal, Bariatric and Metabolic, and Endocrine Surgery societies.

Dr. Eda Tereh Akay is a general surgeon. She completed specialty training in general surgery and provides patient-centered care with modern techniques.

He continued his education at Istanbul Kuleli Military High School in 1998. She studied medicine at Gülhane Military Medical Faculty between 2002-2008. Later, she completed her specialty training in Ankara Keçiören Training and Research Hospital Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery clinic.

He worked as a specialist physician at Yozgat City Hospital and Ümraniye Training and Research Hospital. During this period, he participated in congresses, conferences and presentations on Plastic Surgery. His articles have been published in national and international journals.
