He was the first Thai and Southeast Asian ophthalmologist elected to a clinical fellowship in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery at the Washington University Eye Center. He took part in clinical studies on PRK and LASIK using an excimer laser.

At Ramathibodi, he has led Cornea and Refractive Surgery since 2001 and directed the fellowship. He is the first Thai doctor certified in refractive surgery. Dr. Napon Sinthuvanich is an expert in robotic-assisted knee and hip replacement surgery. He also performs traditional, partial, complex, and revision knee and hip replacements. He uses both advanced and minimally invasive techniques for joint replacement procedures.
