Dr. Emre Cem Esen is a psychiatrist at Medicalpoint International Hospital. He earned the 2022 EPA Early Career Psychiatrists Fellowship Award. He holds an integrated MD-PhD from Hacettepe University. Dr. Esen specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy. He has led international psychiatric working groups and contributed to World Health Organization psychosocial projects.

Specialization & Approach

Dr. Esen treats a variety of mental health conditions using evidence-based methods. His focus includes agoraphobia, panic disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. He also treats depression, social phobia, exam-related anxiety, and adjustment disorder. He applies cognitive therapy and behavioral therapy alongside psychopharmacological treatments to help patients. Dr. Esen developed a smartphone-based application for treating panic disorder as part of his research.

Dr. Esen served as the Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Psychiatric Residents. He also chaired the Scientific Research Working Group for the European Federation of Psychiatric Assistants. Additionally, he coordinated a World Health Organization project for earthquake psychosocial support in 2023. This role involved supporting activities for the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes. Dr. Esen has organized several international congresses, including the EABCT 2023 and the 2024 Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapies Congress.
