Professor of Radiation Oncology at Cairo University’s National Cancer Institute; head of Radiation Oncology at a hospital; member of ESTRO and ESMO.
Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud Abdelhakim is Head of Radiation Oncology at Shefa al Orman Hospital, Luxor. He is Professor of Radiation Oncology at the National Cancer Institute, Cairo University. He previously served as Associate Professor (2015–2020), Lecturer (2010–2015), Assistant Lecturer (2003–2009), and Resident (2000–2003). He also worked as a Specialist at Gharbia Cancer Society.

He treats inpatients and outpatients with breast, soft tissue sarcoma, lymphoma, gynecologic, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and CNS tumors. His skills include image-guided brachytherapy, IMRT, VMAT, SRS, and SBRT. He performs conventional and CT-based planning and 3D-CRT. He works with cobalt and linear accelerators and electron beam therapy. He provides HDR and LDR intracavitary and interstitial brachytherapy. He also performs stereotactic radiotherapy, total body irradiation, and total skin irradiation.

Procedures performed:

Involved in direct cancer patients’ care including inpatients as well as outpatients and working as Radiation Oncologist responsible about treating breast cancer, soft tissue sarcoma cancer, Lymphoma, Gynae oncology, GIT tumors, Genitourinary tumors, image guided brachytherapy, IMRT, VMAT , SRS and SBRT (and central nervous system tumors (benign and malignant).

▪ Radiotherapy of cancer patients with all the modern techniques of radiotherapy including

o Conventional planning clinically and with the simulator

o CT planning, 3D conformal radiotherapy and IMRT,

o Uses of different mega voltage machines (Cobalt and Linear Accelerator) and electron beam in the management of all types of cancer.

o Brachytherapy (Manual and after loading {High dose rate and Low dose rate} Including intracavitary and interstitial application.

o Stereotactic radiotherapy.

o Total body irradiation for bone marrow transplantation.

o Total skin irradiation.
