Advanced cervical cancer treatment using Radiotherapy VMAT (Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy) at Sheba Medical Center Frequently combined with brachytherapy and chemoradiation → full-cycle treatment in one center.
This cutting-edge radiotherapy technology delivers highly precise, personalized radiation in a continuous arc, maximizing tumor control while protecting surrounding healthy tissues. Treatment is planned and delivered by a multidisciplinary oncology team using the latest imaging and dose-optimization protocols, ensuring both high effectiveness and reduced side effects.
Patients benefit from shorter treatment sessions, enhanced safety, and care aligned with the highest international standards.
This program is intended for patients diagnosed with locally advanced cervical cancer who require precise radiotherapy as part of their treatment plan.
It may be suitable for patients with cervical cancer stages IB3–IVA, including cases with a large primary tumor, parametrial involvement, pelvic lymph node involvement, or disease that is not suitable for primary surgery.
The program may also be appropriate for patients who were recommended combined chemoradiation, external beam radiotherapy, VMAT radiotherapy, brachytherapy, or a multidisciplinary second opinion before starting treatment.
Eligibility for this treatment is determined individually after review of medical records, biopsy results, MRI/PET-CT or CT imaging, previous treatment history, general health status, and consultation with the oncology team.
The program is not intended for patients with very early-stage cervical cancer suitable for surgery alone, or for patients with widely metastatic disease where systemic therapy or palliative treatment may be the main approach.

Dr. Shira Felder is a senior radiation oncologist. She focuses on gynecologic and urologic cancers. She has advanced expertise in VMAT, IMRT, SBRT, and gynecologic brachytherapy. She delivers precise treatment with fewer side effects.
She heads the Gynecologic Oncology Service at Sheba Medical Center. She is a senior physician in the Radiation Oncology Division. She earned her MD at Hadassah. She completed residency at Sheba and a fellowship in the Radiation Medicine Program at the University of Toronto and Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. She is board-certified in Radiation Oncology. She is a member of ESTRO, the Israeli oncology societies, the CPSO, and the CMA.
Her research covers brachytherapy patient safety. It also includes stereotactic ablative radiotherapy for stage I lung cancer. She has studied treatment delays in cervical cancer. She has examined vitamin D deficiency in oncology patients.
