Overview
Bilateral otoplasty is a cosmetic procedure that reshapes and repositions both ears to improve their size, symmetry, and proportion. It is commonly performed to correct prominent ears, congenital ear deformities, or asymmetry, resulting in a more balanced and harmonious facial appearance.

Ideal Candidates
Individuals with prominent, asymmetrical, or misshapen ears who wish to improve the appearance of their ears. The procedure is suitable for both adults and children, typically from the age of five or older, once ear growth is nearly complete.
Procedure
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, depending on the patient's age and preferences. Small incisions are usually made behind the ears, allowing the surgeon to reshape the cartilage and reposition the ears closer to the head while maintaining a natural contour. The incisions are carefully concealed to minimize visible scarring.
Recovery
Most patients can return to school, work, or light daily activities within 5–7 days. A protective headband is typically worn during the initial healing period to support the new ear position and promote optimal healing. Swelling and mild discomfort gradually resolve over the following weeks.
Expected Results
The ears appear more symmetrical, proportionate, and naturally positioned, enhancing overall facial harmony. Results are permanent and provide a lasting improvement in appearance and self-confidence.
Otoplasty for children include 1 night of hospital stay. It is OUTPATIENT for adult patients.

Op. Dr. Semih Özçınar is a plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgeon. He earned his M.D. from Ankara University and completed his plastic surgery residency at İnönü University. He is a member of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS).
His scientific work includes an oral presentation at the 2022 National Congress of the Turkish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery titled "Retrospective Analysis of Regional, Free, and Local Flaps in Head and Neck Reconstruction." He also wrote a thesis on the effect of septocolumellar flap use on nasal tip projection in rhinoplasty.
He has completed training in ISAPS Live Surgery Rhinoplasty, the ISAPS World Congress 2022 in Istanbul, Bosphorus Breast Live Surgery, the 9th Rhinoplasty & Facial Aesthetics fresh cadaver course, BTS International Aesthetic in Sweden, and FABCAST meetings. His focus areas are facial aesthetics, breast surgery, body contouring, and reconstruction.
